School Education In Assam

The present education system in the state of Assam is in a bad shape, although institutes like Indian Institure of Technology have improved the higher education scene, the school system especially in the rural areas are devastated. Worse, the posts of school teachers were sold in open market...this , like the radiation from atomic explosion will criple our system for the next 50 year, until these unworthy teachers retire.

My recent trip to my village in assam has made this problem more obvious to me..They have improved the couse content of the books (i went through the class 9 and 10 science books..they have included things that we studies in +2)..but the assamese medium books are as hopeless as before.. they are just a collection of some carelessly translated sentences..I think english books would have been easier to understand.. The writers, so called eminent professors, make their students write (read. translate) the chapters because they dont have time from the scores of tuition classes they take. I dont think the village teachers can understand a thing themselves. They also take tuition classes... just to dictate the same crap in some different language..again the kids struggle mug them up/

I think only .the use of technology and multimedia in education can pull our children out of this hopeless situation..
...One thing I have noticed in our villages during this trip...is the penetration of DVD players..and colour TVs. ,( with dish TV)..( Internet is still a distant dream.. although lot of community internet centers have come up in small places..)

I am presently searching the net for self learning multimedia DVDs. If a suitable one is found, we can translate them to assamese. Similarly there are self learning books too...
